JENNY PATTON

My name is Jenny Patton, and I am Mikayla’s second assistant. I live in Michigan with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 Toddler, and a fox! I have always had a love of all animals my whole life. I grew up with horses, bunnies, cats, and dogs. But I always had a deep love for foxes. When national geographic did the story on the Russian Silver Fox Domestication, I knew I was hooked on the dream of one day having a fox as a pet. It wasn’t until a couple of years ago I discovered Mikayla and Save a Fox Rescue, with that I realized that Fur Farms were a totally legal business here in the United States and that I could help rescue a little kit from a life of torture and suffering.

After many months of research, reading, asking questions we felt that we were ready for the crazy life of being a “Fox Parent.” Last winter my boyfriend and I applied for a kit, we got the good news that we passed, once we had our DNR permit ready to go, we drove out to Minnesota and picked up Axel in May of 2017. He was 5 weeks old, and honestly, it was the first time I had ever touched a fox that little. I was so nervous and excited, here was this beautiful little kit, who now depends entirely on us and we couldn’t let him down. He’s grown into a beautiful young fox, and we love him to death.

My job here at the rescue is to help Mikayla with all the emails that come into the rescue. I am the first step of the application process, I also answer all the fox questions that come in through our email. So, if you email us chances are I’ll be answering and I am so happy to be able to help even all the way from Michigan.

We also have an IG account @our_fox_axel.
